Schools take action to minimise waste, save energy and water, promote biodiversity and take action on climate change to benefit their school and community.
ResourceSmart Schools provides practical support to reduce resource use, make cost savings, integrate sustainability into the curriculum and share learnings beyond the school gate.
ResourceSmart Schools helps schools reduce costs while giving students the opportunity to learn about sustainability in a tangible and realistic environment.
ResourceSmart Schools is Victoria’s approach to the Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) and more than 1000 schools in Victoria have signed up since the pilot in 2003.
The program has grown from an Australian Government funded pilot, delivered by the Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies and the Gould League in 2003, through to today’s nationally recognised program delivered by a network of sustainability educators and supportive communities across Victoria.
Starting the ResourceSmart Schools program is easy. Schools have access to sustainability experts with the knowledge, skills and resources to help each school on its journey. The first step is to register your interest.
Once a school registers interest, a Regional Coordinator will make contact to provide more information on the ResourceSmart Schools program.
